Biography

Fresh Sly is a European MC, beatmaker and producer from the Republic of Moldova. Apart from the D.N.S. group career, Sly is a solo artist with 12 official albums (2010 – 2020), and 5 group albums (2006 – 2011). In 2010 he signed with the New York based Digi Crates Records label and remixed Tha Connection’s "Connect 101" album, which became “Connect 102: Fresh Sly Remixes”. The first solo instrumental album “Sly In France”, was produced during a trip to France and had a good appeal to the Japanese market. The follow-up “Quiet Storm” album featured jazzy and soul samples, a relaxed and mellow flow and was released on CDs for the asian market. In 2014 he released "Hope", partially recorded with live instrumentation and "Phoenixology", where he experimented with a more synth-oriented sound. In 2019, Sly released "Impressions Of Cool", a boom-bap record reminiscent of the 90's jazzy hip-hop, and participated as an MC at the annual "Jazz'N Chisinau" international jazz festival in his hometown, that also featured musicians from Moldova, U.S.A, and United Kingdom among others. In 2020 Fresh Sly released "Night Cruise", an album that takes a step back from the jazzy sound, but keeps a tight lyrical point with groovy beats, and is the half of the concept double-album "Night Cruise" and "Day Dream", Sly’s production style incorporates funky grooves, smooth jazzy elements, also using a large spectrum of samples, drum breaks and live instruments.
