Up above so, up above so quiet Down below so, down below so violent And we try so We're trying not to fight it Oh but still we question Is there anybody to listen to our fears? Now here's temptation See it laughing in your face The congregation Makes it easy to change shape And only God knows If we're practicing religion Now where's your patience? Is it crawling in the night? Conversation Makes it hard to exchange fright Is there anybody to listen to our fears? What does, what does your mind say? I bet somebody told you I bet somebody warned you That this is the way that it is And no one can change it Don't forget ignorance is right And no one can face it That the world is Black and White Shut your mouth boy Bite your tongue and don't think twice They can find your house boy Censor your lips and pick another disguise And tell me who knows Why our truths are used as currency, the current needs, some knowledge as the oven screams AS LONG AS THERE'S BREAD AND AS LONG AS THERE'S AN APPETITE, AS LONG AS EVERYONE YOU NEED IS STEPPING IN LINE You are camouflaged, hiding in plane sight You are camouflaged, concealed by your slight of HAND OVER YOUR WILL, YOUR MIND, EVERYTHING YOU'VE EVER LOVED AND STOOD BEHIND And I didn't even know that I witnessed a crime And I didn't even know that I gave my life Facial recognition, interterminal rendition Did you find your God in security with drones as your permission? Did you ask God? Misuse of religion Tell me you're not missing this, I swear there's a bigger mission Insist upon the questions you've been dying to ask "Why history books leave out the past" And so you hold fast, dying to hear the next word On the edge of your seat, but not really alert And did you ask God? If its okay to do His job, if what you're doing is wrong or if you're strong enough to make a difference But you have power in every sentence, you can use it for vengeance or fall on your own repentance or finally have acceptance that you are God You are God
