A workmate's mother died last night
That's news I was sorry to hear
Means I gotta work her hours now
She taking some time off to heal
And I haven't replied to my boss yet
Cause I hope he finds somebody else
To take up her shifts in the kitchen
Cause I need some time off for myself
Does this make me sick and demented
I would say selfish at best
While I'm playing guitar in my local bar
And she isn't feeling herself
Is it fair to compare my problems
To those maybe worse off than me
Some people's pages flick faster
But we all get there eventually
A boy I knew died. He was only a child
In fact he was the same age as me
Faces appeared at the funeral
Of which that he's never seen
Is it such a sin to feel sorry

The outcomes the same in the long run

The people around you forget
