Black Veil Brides - New Years Day - Commentary lyrics

Artist: Black Veil Brides

album: Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones (Commentary Version)

New Years Day is meant to be kind of a celebration
Uhm, I've always liked sort of the, the
The stories that you hear about ancient cultures where when someone dies
They'll, you know
Have this crazy celebration as opposed to a funeral or something like that
They had this kind of big celebration that, uhm
Is about, you know, celebrating the life of this person that passed
And so, uhm, within the story there's a character that's sort of, uhm
Dies very early on and there's sort of the idea that, uhm
For their, their fallen friend or their, their, their fallen brother or sister
And, uhm, this leads the record in a way of showing that there's a certain sense of camaraderie
Amongst the wild ones or the rebels and in terms of our lives, uhm
And 'cause again all the songs in the record are supposed to parallel things that we've experienced
I didn't wanna write things that were disingenuous or writing a fable
We're writing things that are very thinly veiled representation of our own life, uhm
I think that for us the darkest times that I have in my life no matter what they are
I can always go out on stage and perform
Even though internally I may be feeling crappy about the day
I go out in front of all these people and I perform and I sing with them
And that sense of partier that sense of community that I have
Can bring me out of those things and so New Year's Day to me represents to me that moment of
Feeling like crap, but still wanting to be a community and
Unite within that feeling and to create something bigger
