It started way back, with my Great Grandpa Jack When he bought his first pair of pajamas When put to the test, they enticed him to rest So he went back to buy some for Grandma There were all different hues, from yellows to blues There were drop-seats and booties and more Some had buttons, some snaps, some were perfect for naps So he just had to buy the whole store And from there he kept buying though Grandma kept trying To stop him it was quite useless So pajama obsessed that whenever he dressed For other than bed, he went suitless He liked polka dots, plaids & paisleys in green He'd try them all one and he'd prance and he'd preen There were checkered and speckled and robin's egg blue The pajama parade was from 10 until 2 He had children galore and they, too liked to snore The whole family collected the sleepwear And the house was so packed with pajamas so stacked There was nothing else that you could keep there They were piled to the ceiling and all so appealing With colors and choices so wide Some had small matching hats or had wings like a bat's Or had feather or fins on each side By the time I'd arrived, the collection had thrived And been passed down to my generations And I counted last night, and believe if I am right There's a thousand pairs here for temptation I've got polka dots, plaids & paisleys in green I try them all one and I prance and he'd preen There were checkered and speckled and robin's egg blue The pajama parade was from 10 until 2 One thousand pairs of pajamas More common than dollies or llamas I've tried six hundred on with four hundred to go And just when I'll finish, I don't think I know So don't ask me to snooze - I'm too busy to choose Amoung one thousand pairs of pajamas When mom says, "Time for bed", I say "Can't we instead Play dress up for I'm young and I am hardy!" There's so many to try, such an ample supply It's a "trying pajamas on" party And since I can't decide in which pair to reside I've saved up my very last penny And I'm quick to depart on a trip to the mart To buy more, for there's never too many So come visit me won't you? You like parades don't you? We'll ask the whole neighborhood over No one needs to go bare, I am happy to share And we'll waltz our pajamas through clover We'll wear polka dots, plaids & paisleys in green We'll try them all on and we'll prance and he'd preen We'll wear checkered and speckled and robin's egg blue The pajama parade was from 10 until 2 And at 3, well, we'll see We might catch a few winks One or two, then wake up for the purples and pinks It's the greatest selection this side of the moon So, you won't catch us slumbering anytime soon! One thousand pairs of pajamas More common than dollies or llamas I've tried six hundred on with four hundred to go And just when I'll finish, I don't think I know So don't ask me to snooze - I'm too busy to choose Amoung one thousand pairs of pajamas
