Frankie Ballard - Tip Jar (Commentary) lyrics

Artist: Frankie Ballard

album: Sunshine & Whiskey (Commentary)

Tip Jar is a song about, uh
A guy, it's a story
About a guy who, uh
Is playing in a band
And he um
You know, he's been everywhere and
Played every honky tonk in crappy bar you can imagine, and
So I dunno where he's down in Destin, Florida with the band
Kind of what seems like on maybe a house gig for the summertime and
This girl walks up and drops a note in his tip jar and uh
After the show, he counts it down and finds some money
And some bottle caps and few of the things
Then he finds this note in the tip jar from her, and
It's all the things she likes and
And uh, kind of you know flirty thing and so
They end up spending the summer together from this note and then
And immediately he's you know towards the end of the summer
That feeling of uh, thing
You know things are ending and people are going back to their everyday lives
And the summer gig down there in Florida's all over with
And they kinda have to part ways comes September
And it- which was really struck me because I remember as a kid feeling that way
When you go to camp, and you'd fall in love with some girl at camp and then
You know it had to be over when summer
When summer was over and so
They sort of part ways and
And the last gig she comes up and puts a picture in his
Of her with you know long tan legs in his tip jar on the back
It's got a little note, you know kind of a goodbye note
So it's-
And she kinda slips off and
It's like they never see each other again
That was kind of a
A sad ending but just a really powerful emotional song and
It got a different feel
