Six-piece indie-folk rockers Villa Rivercat consists of musicians and friends Hanna Nordqvist (lead vocals, guitar), William Lindberg (bass guitar, vocals), Ida Säfström (vocals, violin, harmonica), Niklas Lock (lead guitar), Karl Geisler (drums, percussion) and Sara Larsson (keyboard and vocals). Villa Rivercat was formed in Dalarna, Sweden at the beginning of 2015. In December of 2017, Villa Rivercat released their debut full-length album ’Days and Weeks and Hours’ via NIWI Music. With one foot in traditional Swedish folk and one foot in Americana, their unique soundscape is a natural progression of their folk-rock heritage. Mainly drawing influence from Scottish folk-rock legends The Waterboys and Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, Villa Rivercat also list artists such as U2 and Fleet Foxes as influences on their own musical direction and sound. ’Live at Sunnanhed’ is their latest release. It was recorded during a four-day artist residency in a beautiful old refurbished barn, located in the small village Sunnanhed in rural Sweden. For the album, Villa Rivercat wanted to get away from the modern ways of recording and really do it all live. No click-track, no edits, just the band playing together. The result is an atmospheric, dynamic interpretation of new wave folk.
