There's a story folks remember that the neighbors like to tell About a lion king and his son that loved their kingdom well It was full of antelope, wildebeest, and a baboon A river Nile, crocodile, and one big shiny moon There was a meerkat and a warthog straight out of Hollywood Yeah the lion King and his son they saw that it was good Then one day there was a family of a friend who came to town And by happenstance they came across this fella on the ground He asked them if they might by chance would like a bite to eat And with a smile told 'em it's a pleasure we should meet He took the family hostage and with his hyena gang Declared war upon the king and on the kingdom's reign The hyenas brought hard liquor and a host of other vices Tensions were flying, it seemed no one could play nice The antelope they started drinking along with the wildebeest The river Nile and crocodile ate up everything There was a zebra who was outcast for the color of his skin By the meerkat and the warthog who had let the darkness in It wasn't long before the king and son devised themselves a plan One of them would go behind the lines and rescue their old friend So, the son He set out for the east to set the family free Knowing very well the danger and of just what he might see In the dark of night, the son snuck in to overthrow the snake The hyenas came upon him, but the family got away There was silence in the kingdom, and they all had held their breath Almost certain that the enemy had beat the son to death But King and baboon they came in to rally up the troops His right-hand man relayed the plan and said "this is what we'll do" So, they all came together, and they put aside their pride And with the friend and family they were standing side by side As the morning came upon them for the battle to take place The field was cold and wet and there was no time to delay Then the king addressed the troops and said prepare yourself for war And I promise you we'll set it right just like it was before And with that all were ready to go lay down their lives And in unison they drew a breath and gave a battle cry As the smoke and ashes settled all the rains came rolling in The bloody stains from battle mixed with water on their skin It was clear the fight was over and the war it had been won But the big surprise came for them when they all saw the son He smiled as they all joined together, and they sang And everybody bowed down to the son and to the Lion King
