I grew up in a small farm town in California When I say small farm town, I mean it Like every October, people would bring these 1200 pound pumpkins To the main street pumpkin festival To compete for the title of "Biggest pumpkin" We lived across the street from the Pacific Ocean And the only thing separating it from us Was a eucalyptus forest Surrounding the town were these small mountains That used to trap the humidity from the ocean So for most of the year The entire town was covered in this amazing fog The town was called "Half Moon Bay" Because the coastline was shaped like a crescent My next-door neighbor, and surrogate grandpa Had a little carpentry shop in his garage Where he'd help me make these little creations That I'd invent, build and paint And my other neighbor was my godmother Who'd help me bake pies out of apples I'd picked fresh from a tree in my backyard I'd always wanted to make these things That I imagined come to life, you know And I was surrounded by people who taught me how to do it
