I call this one, "No way this works twice"
I'm back in NYC and auditioning for Wicked
It's a few weeks later after my final callback
I'm driving down to Miami to start 'Into the Woods'
When I get the call from them
They said, they wanted to offer me the job on Broadway!
And the job started in six weeks when I'd be in Woods
And I couldn't do it
So, I'm venting to my boyfriend
Basically thinking, "It's over
My chance with Wicked is over"
And he says, "Why don't you just call Broadway?
And tell them that if they wanna hire someone else
'Til you've finished your job, they'd be happy to step in"
And I thought, "No way this works twice, right?
I'm gonna call them, no, that's crazy
Is it crazy? Yes? No? No!"
"Hey, it's Arielle Jacobs
Hi, call Broadway and tell them I'm busy
But, if they wanna hire someone else while I finish my job
I'd be happy to step in when I'm done
Yeah, call Broadway"
And I remember thinking, if this works twice
It'll be like a superpower or something
A few minutes later, they call back
It did work, and that's how I got back on Broadway!
