Biography
Sasha Siem is a British-Norwegian singer, songwriter, composer, producer and instrumentalist from London, UK. Having been under the radar to focus on motherhood since being awarded the ‘New Wave Artist’ award at the Fashion Media Awards in New York in 2020, Sasha has recently begun releasing music again. Sasha studied music and poetry at Cambridge University and received a PhD in Music and Poetry from Harvard University. By her early twenties, she had written music for the likes of The London Symphony Orchestra, The London Philharmonic and The Royal Opera House. In 2010, she became one of the youngest people to win a British Composer Award. She's also been awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize. Revisiting the songwriting of her youth, Sasha went on to two experimental albums (Most of the Boys, Bird Burning) recorded with producer Valgeir Sigurðsson (Björk, Feist, Sigur Rós, Ben Frost), in The Greenhouse Studios in Iceland to critical acclaim by the likes of Clash, NME, Wonderland, Stereogum, Marie Claire, Billboard, and Line of Best Fit: "'Scandinavia regularly yields musicians of extraordinary talent, but Sasha Siem’s startling ambition stands head and shoulders above the rest.” Thanks to her studies in the science of sound and the medicinal power of music - her recent music is recorded at 432hz and is imbued with healing frequencies to assist with relaxation and wellbeing.
