I used to know a family with a very sickly son.
The boy had been ill as a small child and hes very
Thin and weak, Well, the famil moved awayand we lost touch.
But a few weeks ago that boy came to see me.
He was a very strong handsome young man.
I WAS very PLEASE TO SEE Him and asked
What he had done to be in such good shape.
Dr peale He said,
I finlly realize that i was the sculptor of my own body.
Just because I was weak didnt mean i always had
To stay and t im just iwishing i had a healthy body
Wasn 't good enough so I begun to work very hard to build myself up
And to look the way i had always wanted too, WELL,
Thats a wonderful idea, and its not onoybtrue of your body.
Every man is a sculptor of his own spiirit.
You Are all the decisions you make,
And the actions you take, and the beliefs you hold.
And you are also all the decisions you obey,
All the actions you dont take because you're
Afraid or you think somebody might dispprove.
Your spirit is what you make of it.
And if you make it good and strong,
It will stand you in goodstead all through your life.
I wanna tell u about a man who sculpted himself a wonderful spirit.
My friend Laurence thonson at 91,
Was a man of kin the most useful
Vigorous, vibrant person ii have ever known.
Laurence townson was a man ofnking
Citillating and intellect and of many accomplishments.
He translated works on Frensch in german to English.
He was for some years a rancher and a superb
Horseman he was also curiously and expertly cabinet maker.
Such work with the hands is occupational
Therapy, the good way to rest the mind he would say.
When l visited him at his home in Florida.
In back of the house he showed me an enclosure opennto
The sky wall round so that he wont be seen by neighbors.
He explained that this was very came each day rain or shine
To this robe and expose his body to the life giving elements.
I draw myself up as tall as i can he said.
Carrying the crown of my head high.
I let the sun fall upon me or if its raining,
I let the rain wash over me or if there's a overcast
Acstdraw and a strong wind blowing i let him ng edad myself.
Lo.
This man so young so gloriously alive.
This man sa hoouytrew
