You know sometimes I wonder if there's really a genuine self Because when I think of the human anatomy It reminds me of the fact That we're multi-cellular beings A bunch of organs working together like a factory machine Designed to keep us alive And knowing this It makes me think It makes me wonder if consciousness is just a trick of the mind You know? And it's funny when I was younger I used to think that we were solely just our brains And our bodies were just meatsuits made to execute every command But as I got older I realized that that thinking was a little flawed Because we are not our brains We are not our hearts We are not bodies We are not our eyes We are not our voices And the idea behind planes and dimensions And all that shit All that wishful thinking that we possess souls and that we're eternal It makes a whole lot of sense, you know? Who we are is what we create What we leave behind What we sacrifice And I think who we are is who we love And who we hate And who we feel nothing for.
