As I was walking on a road
One sunny African day,
I was getting very hot.
I was looking for a nice cool spot
And there in front of me
I saw a big Baobab tree
As I sat down in its shade
To eat my veggie lunch,
There right in front of me
Oh, dear, what did I see?
I saw a great big leopard!
Goodness gracious, it saw me!
So, I said, "Mr Leopard,
Please don't eat me,
For I am just skin and bones
Oh, please let me go home!"
The leopard just looked at me,
Purred and twitched his tail
And then he pointed right at me
With a nasty, long, white nail
"Oh, let me sing a song to you,
To tell you what I am about to do."
He reached in behind the tree,
And pulled out a...
UKULELE!
He took his nail and gave a pluck,
And then he gave it two
And in a voice all deep and strong
He sang this little song
"I will eat your fingers, I will eat your toes,
I might even eat your little nose
Then, I'll put you in my tum,"
He said as he finished with a fancy strum.
I looked at him, he looked at me,
As he eyed me for his lunch
Then an idea came to me,
So, I quickly grabbed his...
UKULELE!
I took my nail and gave a pluck,
And then I gave it two
And in a voice all high and strong
I sang a solo song
"Oh, Mr Leopard, you can't do that,
You need your veggies,
Not too much meat or fat
My mommy says it's good for you
To choose veggies over meat
The health benefits will keep you
Healthy, lean and fit."
The leopard said to me,
"Please give my ukulele back
I want to give my little song another crack."
He took his nail and gave a pluck,
And then he gave it two
And in a voice all deep and strong
He sang another song.
"I think you have convinced me
To change the way I eat.
Eating more veggies
Is a real treat!"
As he finished the song,
(Which was not too long),
He looked at me and smiled,
"I think we will be here
For a little while."
We shared my veggies
We crunched and munched
Then he reached in behind the tree
And pulled out another...
UKULELE!
And so we sat beneath the tree
As the sun went down,
Playing our ukuleles
Singing our new song.
