Biography
Matthew Smith, more popularly known to the world as “Rygin King”, was born on August 22, 1994, in St. James, Jamaica. He grew up in Flankers, Montego Bay where he attended Flankers Primary and Junior High, graduated and moved to Irwin High School. Matthew was unable to finish high school but that didn’t stop his determination to become a successful, young icon. “You can achieve success regardless of your origin or background”. Music was Matthew’s dream, he started singing and writing his own lyrics at a young age. His goal is to inspire young, underprivileged youths to make the best of their lives, stay focused and put in the work. In 2013 he entered the Magnum Kings and Queens talent show at the age of 18 with stage name "Jah B". Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the earlier stage of the competition but that didn’t stop the young “Jah B” from pursuing his career as a Dancehall artiste. Now he is well known as the king of Dancehall music, “1 King”, “Rygin King”. Rygin is a one-of- a kind talent, his music touches his fans emotionally and inspires them. His first hit song that made him well known is “TUFF” which dropped in August 2018 with over 1.1 million views on YouTube. In 2017, “Feel Like This” and “Learn” with over 3.8 million views.
