Her musical journey began in New York with the production of her debut album Çerkez Kızı (2000). The album’s title means Circassian Girl reflecting her part Circassian identity. The success of this album was due to the way that Sultana combined her native traditions with the ways of the West. This was reflected in an artistic mix that gave a unique appeal to her music as quoted by Ahmet Ertegün of Atlantic Records, “Sultana is both a poet, a wit, a rapper, and a terrific singer, as well as being a beautiful young lady. This fine recording is in many ways a first time ever.” The song Kuşu Kalkmaz was banned not because of being too sexually explicit but because the song questioned traditions, male behaviour and talked about domestic violence. Sultana continued rapping about women’s issues in her second album Şöhret Yolu (2008). Celebrated for challenging convention and preconceived notions within Turkish society and described by the Sunday Times (London) as a symbol of her city’s modern movement, Sultana continued her work in Istanbul. Single handedly created a social responsibility song to raise awareness for female existence Biz Neysek (2015). Sultana featured on many different works with other artist throughout the years.
