Biography
Born Osaretin Osabuohien, Nigerian beatmaker Sarz’s love for music began during his childhood with the influence of late 90s American hip-hop producers. He sold his first beat at just fifteen years old and was catapulted into the mainstream after producing “See Drama” for Nigerian rap pioneer Lord of Ajasa. Production credits on numerous hits of contemporary Nigerian acts such as eLDee and Reminisce put ‘Beats By Sarz’ in high demand. He produced four tracks on the Empire Mates Entertainment compilation album in 2012. However, his biggest impact on the Afropop scene came later that year with his groundbreaking debut single “Beat of Life (Samba)” featuring pop sensation Wizkid. Sarz’s unique and inventive way of beat making has made him a leader in the worldwide afrobeats movement. His catalog features collaborations with globally renowned acts such as Chris Brown, Drake, and Wizkid. With an ever expanding creative process, Sarz has been able to break new talent such as Niniola and Flash. The latter was the infectious vocalist on the producer’s 2016 dance infused single, “Get Up”. Sarz remains focused and dedicated to his craft. He plans to continue generating new, captivating sounds for the world. He also looks to create opportunity for young, aspiring musicians in Nigeria via his annual workshop - The Sarz Academy (TSA). Ultimately, Sarz is looking to make long lasting impact with his talents.
