Biography
This six-piece reggae band hailing from the underground scene of London is establishing an unprecendented reggae sound. Their unique blend of Roots Reggae has a modern unique flavour fusing Deep dub, reggae roots and rockers grooves with both modern soulful and raw hip hop deliveries. Their unique recipe creates an unruly and rebellious sound they call Soul Rock and Roots Reggae. Using catchy melodies and meaningful lyrics The Wise Bloods tell stories with social commentary highlighting truths about the state of current humanity and urban living. The Wise Bloods music has been played on top radio stations like BBC1 Xtra, Capital Xtra and Vibes FM. Their debut EP, Let Me Love was received warmly across reggae scenes internationally and described by BBC 1xtra’s David Rodigan as ‘Very Impressive'. The Wise Bloods are not your typical reggae band, incorporating modern influences of soul, hip hop and rock into their sound some may consider their reggae ‘alternative’. Their influences include classic roots music like the wailers and Dennis Brown, but also modern artists with soul and hip hop influences like Fat Freddy’s Drop. Identified as sitting close beside modern and progressive roots, listeners have often associated their work with current artists such as Protoje and Tribal Seeds, whom they themselves identify as contemporary inspirations.
