Biography
Julia Ecklar is a John W. Campbell Award–winning science fiction author and early singer/writer of “filk” (science-fiction folk) music. Under the L.A. Graf pseudonym, Julia also jointly authored nearly a dozen Star Trek novels. In the 1980s, she recorded some of the most popular songs and albums of the filk genre, together with other artists such as Leslie Fish and Cynthia McQuillin. Julia's work spanned the worlds of her own imagination, as well as the worlds of well-known science-fiction writers such as CJ Cherryh, Anne McCaffrey and Mercedes Lackey — often in collaboration. Today, through serendipitous fan uploads on YouTube, Julia’s music is being discovered and enjoyed by a new and unexpected audience of hundreds of thousands of new listeners. In honor of these new listeners, Julia is bringing out previously-unavailable recordings of her most loved songs.
