Biography
Kristjana Stefáns has been one of the leading artists in the Icelandic Jazz scene for years. She is also Award winning composer for theatre. Her first album was released in 1996 with guest international star Emiliana Torrini and Icelandic pop icon Páll Óskar. Since then she has made recordings as a soloist and as a guest performer. She makes regular appearances in Theatre, Radio, Television and she works annually with The Reykjavik Big Band. She has been nominated several times for the Icelandic Music Awards and is a multiple winner for the Icelandic Theatre Awards, last time in 2017 for her music in Musical “Blái hnötturinn” (The Blue Planet). She has collaborated in projects and concerts with artist such as Svavar Knútur, Ragga Gröndal and Sigtryggur Baldursson (The Sugarcubes). Also with Jazz virtuoso such as pianist Eythor Gunnarsson (Mezzoforte), saxophonist Sigurdur Flosason, pianist Lars Janson, bassist Drew Gress and drummer John Hollenbeck. Kristjana lives and works in Reykjavik, Iceland.
