Biography
A specialist in woozy and hypnotic singles, Atlanta rapper Solo Lucci broke through in 2015 with his track "Whip It." Along with several strong mixtapes, the rapper also had a role on the 2017 season of VH1's rap reality show Love & Hip Hop. He returned his focus to music with 2019's mixtape The Recipe. Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Lucci landed in Atlanta, where he launched his career in 2012 with the track "RIP Tupac." When the video for the cut reached over half-a-million views, the rapper celebrated with his mixtape Fuck Your Favorite Rapper, released in 2013. In 2014 he was joined by singer Akon for the track "Killaz & Drug Dillaz," which landed on his mixtape Life After Death. In 2015 he released the single "Whip It." In 2016, Lucci featured on two notable songs, Chris Brown's "Wrist" and Young Thug's "Special." During his stint on Love & Hip Hop's fourth season, his musical output slowed somewhat, but he still scored one of the more visible singles of his career with 2018's "Cash Money" and the 2019 remix of the song that featured Juvenile, Turk, and Beenie Man. In July of 2019, he returned with The Recipe, a 15-track mixtape with no featured artists other than Lucci himself. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
