Biography
The Alternate Routes is essentially the singing and songwriting duo of Tim Warren and Eric Donnelly, two guitarists who met while both were studying at Fairfield University in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The band was officially formed in 2002, although Warren and Donnelly would frequently just work as a duo in the smaller clubs, expanding to a full band at larger venues and in the recording studio. The band tracked a debut album, 2005's Good and Reckless and True, with producer Jay Joyce in Nashville, which led to a recording deal with Vanguard Records in 2006. The label then re-released Good and Reckless and True in 2007, while the duo independently released a limited-edition acoustic album, The Brooklawn Sessions, that same year. A second Vanguard release, Sucker's Dream, again produced by Joyce, appeared in 2009, along with the band-issued, Peter Katis-produced five-song EP The Watershed. Parting ways with Vanguard in 2010, the Alternate Routes headed back to Nashville and recorded 2011's Lately with producer Teddy Morgan. The group released the striking single "Nothing More" at the close of 2013, and the song was featured during the opening ceremonies for the 2014 Winter Olympics on NBC. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
