Biography
DISMAL - The Waltz Of Mind is an Italian artistic and musical project formed in 1995. The first album “Fiaba Lacrimevole” was released in 1998. In 2002 the band entered the Gulp Studio by Marco Calliari (sound engineering) to record their second CD “Rubino Liquido” using a 12-elements orchestra. Described as a mix of claustrophobic and essential drum parts, waltz and tango mixed with baroque and orchestral sound. “Miele Dal Salice” (2006) is the third album released, full of bizarre and intense tones, characterized by gothic-bohemian and neofolk shades. In this album, the band has collaborated with Rossana Landi, singer and double bass player. In 2007 the band makes a short but intense tour in Germany and Italy, protagonists of festivals like the Wave Gothic Treffen. After a long break, the band entered the studio at the Punto Rec by Fabrizio Argiolas (sound engineer) in 2013 to record the new album “Giostra di Vapore”. In this work, the band was inspired by steampunk and the industrial revolution. In 2020 released their fifth album “Quinta Essentia”, claim to have combined all their previous work, keeping their signature Gothic and theatrical sound constant. In 2022, with the new singer Caterina Accorsi, Dismal record the new album “Via Entis”, a return to the past, where they relive the path of the beginnings. “Via Entis” could represent the new parallel path, made with a higher musical and cultural awareness: starting from the Middle Ages and its atmospheres.
