Biography

THE KINDRED has undergone many metamorphoses over the past decade. However, their present form seems to be calibrated with such precision that it renders all previous versions obsolete - as hollow shells. After touring with bands such as BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, MISERY SIGNALS and DEAFHEAVEN, the band found themselves at a creative crossroads in 2014. Little did the band know, the solution(s) were right under their noses - familiar faces and names within a stone’s throw of their home base, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Also joining the ranks is Kenny Saunders on drums, completing the line up of Eric Stone on bass, Steve Rennie and Ben John Davis on guitars, and Matt Young on keyboards/backing vocals. In 2017, THE KINDRED release their new single “Stray Away” - taken from their upcoming album, to be released later in the year. McArthur gives some insight into the track: “This song is about realizing who you are and who you aren’t in the eyes of the people you know and love, and the people you don’t - it’s about taking the coward’s way out and disguising it as bravery. Put a tuxedo on a gorilla and watch it tear apart at the seams while he smiles in confidence anyways.”
