Biography

Jean-François Breau is a francophone singer from Quebec who made his solo album debut in 2001 and rose to fame a few years later in the lead role of the musical production Don Juan by Félix Gray. Born in July 29, 1978, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, he won a series of singing awards during the late '90s before making his full-length album debut in 2001 with Jean-François Breau on the Quartett Music label. A few years later he rose to fame in the lead role of the musical production Don Juan. A couple cast recordings were released on the Guy Cloutier Communications label -- a single-disc album in 2003 and then an expanded double disc in 2004 -- and they spawned a couple hit singles, "Du Plaisir" and "Changer" (the latter a duet with Marie-Ève Janvier), in 2004. Breau released his second solo album, Exposé (2006), a couple years later. In 2009 he and Janvier teamed up again, this time for Donner Pour Donner (2009), a full-length album of love songs sung in duet. Comprised of well-known standards ("I Got You Babe," "You Are the Sunshine of My Life," "How Sweet It Is to Be Loved by You"), most of them sung in French, the album was a big hit in Quebec. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
