Biography
Led by singer/guitarist brothers Frédéric Volovitch and Olivier Volovitch, Volo is a French pop group that made its album debut in 2005 with Bien Zarbos. Based in Paris, the brothers are originally from the region of Tours, France. The older of the two brothers, Frédéric (born on May 14, 1974), is also a member of the group Les Wriggles. He began his recording career with Les Wriggles, a humorous and theatrical chanson group founded in 1995 comprised of Christophe Gendreau (vocals, guitar), Stéphane Gourdon (vocals, guitar), Antoine Réjasse (vocals, guitar), and Franck Zerbib (vocals), in addition to Volovitch (vocals, guitar). Les Wriggles made their full-length album debut in 1997 with Justice Avec des Saucisses and later reached the Top 20 of the French albums chart with their most popular album, Moi d'Abord (2005). Meanwhile, Frédéric founded the group Volo with his brother Olivier, plus a backing band comprised of Hugues Barbet (guitar), Theo Girard (bass), and Enrico Mattioli (drums). Volo made their full-length album debut in 2005 with Bien Zarbos on the label Opera Music, followed by Blancs Manteaux à Volo in 2006, Jours Heureux in 2007, and the three-song Bref EP in 2008. Volo's next album, En Attendant (2009), was their most successful to date, spawning the singles "Dimanche" and "Réguler" and breaking into the Top 100 of the French albums chart. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
