Biography
Dead Combo are Pedro Gonçalves and Tó Trips. They incarnate two characters that could have come from a comics book: an undertaker and a gangster. Dead Combo featured in the Lisbon episode of “No Reservations” by Anthony Bourdain. Their music was the soundtrack for the whole episode. In subsequence, three of the albums reached the top 10 on the north-american iTunes charts for several weeks. “Lisboa Mulata”, released in 2011, was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Album’s Group. This record was complemented by the work of the american guitarist Marc Ribot. In 2012 the band released their albums in France. They were invited to perform at Cannes Film Festival at David Cronenberg film premier. “A Bunch of Meninos”, the band’s seventh album reached number one in Portugal’s charts, Spotify (Portugal) and iTunes (Portugal). The songs “Rumbero” and “Lisboa Mulata” were included in the motion picture “Focus” (2015) by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa featuring Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Rodrigo Santoro.
