    Biography

    Kike has over 50 years of exploring the traditional connection between humans, nature, plants, ikaros, sounds, vibrations and indigenous musical languages. Kike was born in 56 to a family who emigrated from the Andes to Lima City, Peru. He started singing and playing from a young age. Even before reaching adulthood he began a journey around Peru to learn the origins of its musical languages, instruments, vocals and sounds in order to create and compose his own music and songs. This journey passed between different places in the continent and many native Andean, Amazonian and Native American peoples. These encounters greatly influenced Kike, and he devoted himself to the rich local culture and nature, from the Amazon jungle to the snowy Andean mountains, and to the study of plants and shamanism, where he learned more about the Icaros, Walinas and other ceremonial songs and music and began to compose and write many. During his journey he met and learned from great teachers to play various musical instruments, and put together a most impressive collection of musical instruments: flutes, whistles, rattles, drums, charango, guitars and more.
