Biography
The self-described "disco-rock trio" We Have Band offer up a mix of danceable pop and electro that, in the group's first year, had already been featured on several compilation albums and sampled by such prominent electronic acts as Friendly Fires. The trio -- comprising former EMI employees Thomas W-P, Dede W-P, and Darren Bancroft, all of whom share vocal duties -- hit blog spaces and compilations hard in 2008 with their first two singles, "Oh" and "Hear It in the Cans." Anticipation began to build around the group, and in late 2008 the single "Oh" was picked up for the French label Kitsuné's annual collection of promising artists, Kitsuné Maison, Vol. 6. "Oh" was subsequently released as a single in November 2008, less than a year after their formation. After making a splash with the single "You Came Out," the band's first album, WHB, was released in May of 2010. Two years later, the band formed its own label and released Ternion. The album was also accompanied by Ternion Aside, a version of the album remixed by Thomas W-P. The follow-up was recorded in their East London basement studio and produced by Thomas W-P, with help from former DFA member Tim Goldsworthy. Movements was released in April of 2014. ~ Celeste Rhoads, Rovi
