Biography

Singer, composer, philanthropist Mafalda Minnozzi produces a record each year and gives her all in presenting the great composers to standing ovations around the globe. After winning many Italian talent shows she studied voice, dance and theater in Rome, earning spots at the “Cabala Cabaret” and on RAI TV, leading to shows throughout Europe. A mutual love affair with Brazil led to a 20+ year career there and to collaborations with stars like Milton Nascimento, Leny Andrade, Mehmari, Guinga, Toquinho. Countless concerts, TV shows, 15 CDs, 2 DVDs, numerous film and TV soundtracks, international Jazz festivals in S. America and shows in Brazil's largest theaters earned her the official title of “Ambassador of Italian Music” from Sao Paulo's Italian Consulate. In Italy, on RADIO 1 RAI and on tour around the country, she was voted into the top 10 vocalists in JAZZIT magazine two years in a row and earned a chapter in Gerlando Gatto's book “L’Altra Metà del Jazz” dedicated to international women in jazz. In NY, after 3 CDs with guitarist Paul Ricci and tours throughout Brazil and Europe, her "eMPathia Jazz Duo" played the legendary Birdland, Mezzrow's, Jazz Forum, Zinc, Columbia University’s WKCR radio, the Metropolitan Museum and NY University. In her new CD and tour "SENSORIAL", Mafalda brings her NY band of top jazz players back into Birdland to deliver her unique take on the Brazilian songbook recorded both on CD and video as she continues on with her artistic journey.
