Biography

Award winning saxophonist Ivan Mazuze is a performer, a composer, an academic, and a traveller who has found home in Norway. He is inspired by cultural differences and has immersed himself in studying the links that connect traditional music to contemporary music. It is a blend of old and new, a merge of east and west, a mix of style and substance. A musical experiment that succeeds in every way. 
 As a based artist in Norway Mazuze has been representing "world jazz" at numerous music events and festivals in many parts of the world in collaboration with Norwegian based cultural institutions such as Arts Council Norway and Music Norway. 
 Mazuze emerges from a long tradition of jazz musicians in southern Africa. Mazuze is continually an important representation for this genre. Mazuze performs with his own group and as a freelance has performed and recorded with artist such as: Bugge Wesseltoft, Omar Sosa, Manou Gallo, Steve Wilson, Hermeto Pascoal, Linley Marthe, Amira Medunjanin, Jimmy Dludlu, Jonathan Butler and many more.
