Biography
Osvaldo Di Dio is an italian guitar player and composer, born in Naples on June 18, 1980. At age 19 he moved to Milan to attend Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory, graduating with honors. He has played and toured with some of the most important italian artists such as Franco Battiato, Eros Ramazzotti and Cristiano De André. He has worked with producers Craig Bauer (Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West) and Chris Kimsey (The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd) in Los Angeles and London. He's been voted by All About Jazz USA contributor Karl Ackermann in Guitar section at annual critics poll 2011, alongside Bill Frisell. In 2015 Ducati Motor selected Rosso Ducati from his album Better Days for the soundtrack of Moto GP. In 2018 his album Tex Mex Sex reached n.1 on blues charts. In 2019 he releases Guitar Stories, a suite for classical guitar. In March 2020 the Foreign Ministry of Italy invited Osvaldo Di Dio to represent his hometown Naples within the #WeAreItaly project, whose mission is the promotion of Italian art and culture in the world, alongside Paolo Conte, Uto Ughi, Nicola Piovani, Enrico Rava, Renato Zero. The new album Separazioni shows his maturity as a composer, as well as a guitarist. On April 9th 2022 he takes part in the institutional ceremony of Procida 2022, Italian Capital of Culture, performing his song Legni Paralleli in the presence of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella.
