Biography
“I can teach you how to swim” Drawing from his enigmatic origins, DrownMili channels raw emotion into his music. His willingness to embrace vulnerability and delve into the depths of his own psyche has endeared him to fans, who see themselves reflected in his art. Born in Amityville, Long Island, DrownMili fuses alternative rock, atmospheric post punk, and hip-hop to create an emotionally resonant sound. His introspective hit, "War Outside" went viral during the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2023 his single "Thrasher!" received playtime and support from UK DJs Jack Saunders & Nels Hylton on BBC Radio One, showcasing influences from N.E.R.D, Pharrell Williams and Rage Against The Machine. At the age of 14, DrownMili, alongside his best friend and frequent collaborator BurnKas, formed the rap-based collective “Mob9”. They released several EPs & mixtapes, collaborating with artists Kevin Abstract & LUCKI early on in their careers. In 2019, BurnKas was arrested and later convicted of possession of a deadly weapon from charges stemming back to 2017 --leaving Drown to forge his own artistic identity while also advocating for his best friend's release from prison.
