Biography
Sweden's finest Electric Boys started in the late '80s. The quartet garnered rave reviews with their mix of groove, riffs and psychedelia, and launched into stardom with their debut album, Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride (1989). After scoring a hit with their single, "All Lips N' Hips," producer Bob Rock (The Cult, Metallica, Mötley Crüe) recorded 5 new tracks prior to release stateside. The video for "All Lips ’N' Hips" was placed on heavy rotation on MTV and the song hit the Billboard charts. 1992's Groovus Maximus continued in the same vein and the band toured heavily in UK/Scandinavia and in America with Mr. Big and Hardline. Santunione and Sigevall was replaced by guitarist Slim Martin Thomander and drummer Thomas Broman for the third album Freewheelin’, and the first show with the new line-up was supporting Metallica. Released in 1994, Freewheelin' had a heavier sound and saw an era of new Electric Boys fans. The band disbanded soon there after and played their final gig in Stockholm. The band reformed 2009 and 2011 saw the release of, once again with their unmistakable sound, And Them Boys Done Swang, followed by Starflight United two years later, and The Ghost Ward Diaries in 2018. The new album ”Ups!de Down” was released April 30 2021 via Mighty Music/Target Group, and is once again featuring ”Slim” Martin Thomander on guitar and Jolle Atlagic on drums, who’s been sharing drumming duties with Sigevall since the reunion.
