Biography
With influences ranging from country to world music, Soulfarm (formerly Inasense) is a rootsy pop/rock unit that was formed in New York in 1991, but often sounds like it could be a California band of the 1970s. Two members of the band, guitarist C. Lanzbom and lead singer Noah Solomon Chase, met in Jerusalem, Israel, in the 1980s. Lanzbom had been teaching music in Jerusalem and one of his students was Chase (who was in a local band called Noah's Ark at the time). After playing together in Israel, Lanzbom and Chase moved to New York and formed Inasense (not to be confused with the R&B group Innocence) in 1991. It was in New York that they met session drummer Mark Ambrosino, who joined the band's lineup in 1995. Inasense's self-titled debut album came out on Ripe & Ready in 1996 and was followed by The Ride on Orchard and 1999's Get Your Shinebox on Desert Rock. Inasense changed its name to Soulfarm in 2000, and its first live album, Live at Wetlands, was released by Phoenix Presents that year. Scream at the Crop appeared in spring 2001. ~ Alex Henderson, Rovi
