Biography

Carrie Hope Fletcher is an English singer/songwriter, thespian, vlogger and author. Born in 1992 in Harrow, London, Fletcher developed an interest in the arts at an early age, having been influenced by her parent's love for musical theater, and she began attending acting and singing workshops. Throughout her childhood, she acted in various stage shows in London's West End. In 2001, at the age of seven, she made her debut performance as the young Éponine in Les Miserables and went on to perform in productions of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in 2002 -- in which she played Jemima Potts -- and Mary Poppins in 2004, where she played Jane Banks. She went on to perform as the adult Éponine in Les Miserables from 2013 to 2016. During this time, she also played the part of Beth in Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds and briefly re-joined the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in 2016 to play the character of Truly Scrumptious. A jack of all trades, Fletcher also dabbled in writing and music -- a lot of which was chronicled on her eponymous online vlog, which she started in 2011. 2015 saw her publish her first book, All I Know Now: Wonderings and Reflections on Growing Up Gracefully and followed up with her first novel, On the Other Side, in 2016. Her second novel, All That She Can See was released in 2017. She kept busy in the world of theater and music, playing the role of Wednesday Addams in a 2017 U.K. tour of The Addams Family, which earned her the Best Actress in a Musical Award at the What’s on Stage Awards. She put out two singles in 2012 -- "Running Through Rivers" and "The Way We Were" -- and went on to perform the song "On a Rainbow" for the London 2012 Olympics with her brother Tom, of the band McFly. She was also featured as a guest on synth pop artist Alex Day's 2013 record, Epigrams and Interludes, and put out her debut solo album, When the Curtain Falls, in early 2018 via production company label 23:00 Records. The effort comprised elements of lounge music, jazz, easy listening, and pop. ~ Rob Wacey, Rovi
