Biography

“This is self-assured music that challenges the boundaries of folk. It’s bold, confident, and oh so good”–Sounds of Oz The music of Melbourne based Run Rabbit Runis best described as Progressive Folk Rock. Their sound sways between sombrefolk, raucous fast-paced country, and often leans into the realm of atmospheric and climactic prog-rock. Citing artists such as Noah & The Whale, Hey Rosetta!, and Fleet Foxes as influences; Run Rabbit Run formed out of a passion for the honesty that folkmusic breathes. Their name is derived from lyrics in the opening track of Pink Floyd’s iconic Dark Side of the Moon. “We’ve always been inspired by bands that create rich soundscapes and push the boundaries of their genre.”The 2017 release of the band’s debut EP, entitled Bloodline, displayed a darker and more atmospheric tone to the band’s song-writing than their previous 2014/15 single-track releases, with many of the tracks foregoing the up-tempo country/folk vibe in favour of more melancholic, lyrically driven tunes. The release was highly praised in online reviews, with tracks Old Soul and Sticks receiving multiple spins on Triple J’s ‘Roots ‘n’ All’ and various other radio programs. “For a band relatively young in age, this EP showcases a maturity that puts them right alongside contemporaries such as Boy & Bear, Matt Corby and even Mumford & Sons.”-Pilerats For fans of: Noah and the Whale, Boy and Bear, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver & Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
