Biography
First-generation Mexican-American Ivonne Acero intends to take full advantage of the path her immigrant parents paved for her. The singer grew up in the small town of Aguila, Arizona on a cantaloupe farm, immersed solely in Mexican/American culture. She developed her musical talents early, singing in her local church choir; however, her first spotlight moment as a performer wasn’t until the age of 16 when she spontaneously traveled to New York City to audition for season 9 of NBC’s “The Voice.” Making a stunning (second) impression with a soulful rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Style,” Ivonne was cast under Team Pharell and thus, the Chicana popstar was born. As a Scorpio born on Halloween, young Ivonne was given the nickname “brujita,” meaning “little witch.” Now 22 years old, she incorporates this childhood nickname into her stage identity as a self-proclaimed “good witch”- a beacon of light, love, and positivity. As she continues to grow into her artistry, Ivonne’s unwavering objective is for her music to become a safe haven for her audience. She adamantly promotes freedom and transparency, lifting the voices of those unheard. As a Queer chicana, Ivonne often discusses the framework of intersectionality and its societal implications. Channeling acts such as Maggie Rogers and Florence Welch, Ivonne combines indie pop, dance, and electronic styles with the occasional Latin spice, while her bold and buttery voice carries messages of authenticity and triumph.
