Biography
Bosso’s brand of emotive R&B is in keeping with his heroes, who include Lenny Kravitz, Sade and Whitney Houston. As a kid in Montreal his aunt would put him onto the coolest new music, Toni Braxton’s Secrets sticks out in his mind, lending him albums that would go on to be permanently imprinted in his memory. Bosso and his family left their native Ivory Coast for Montreal when he was a small child, to seek medical treatment after he fell seriously ill. The family soon fell in love with their new home, but his parents remained keen to remind their son of where he came from by returning to the Ivory Coast each summer to spend time in Abidjan. Bosso brings his heritage to all of his music, offering up a journey through a life that saw him become a model and go on to become the face of Fear of God by Jerry Lorenzo and work with Versace, Tom Ford, Vivienne Westwood, Dolce & Gabbana, and Beyonce’s Ivy Park brand. Through modelling, Bosso has been able to travel the world, soaking up each part of the global music culture and feeding it back into his own work. This is also part of why he chooses to sing some songs in French, the language of his native Ivory Coast. Slowly but surely Bosso has spent the past few years building up his confidence until he felt emboldened to start putting his feelings out into the world. He now understands that life is to be treasured and that his experiences, married with an undeniable talent, can combine to create something special for others.
