There was a wave of momentum in 2022 for the Midlands based indie band ‘The Mercians’ and it continues to accelerate into 2023. Launching last March, selling out their summer headline show at the O2 Academy Leicester, playing at Kendal Calling and now embarking on a full UK support tour with Tom Meighan, its been a very successful start, and one brand new bands aspire to do in their first year. They write gritty, transparent and relatable tracks about real life situations. Growing up around Leicester as working class lads has given them plenty to write about. Their debut single 'Dreamseller' talked about an industry conman who stole £8000 from the band. Singles since, have included topics around addiction, politics, and... well... just partying! With their brand new single ‘I don’t mind’ topping the iTunes alternative chart in less than 24 hours, and climbing all the way to fifth in the iTunes Uk top 40, validation is something the boys no longer need to chase. Monumental things are coming for the rest of 2023, and alongside their management team and an army of fans, there isn’t much out there to stop them taking the Indie throne.
