Describing her style as ‘southern swagger,’ Tarra Layne’s homegrown rock ’n roll and storytelling collide in a bold, new, bluesy way that feels familiar, but is certainly a sound of her own. (Like if Steven Tyler and Gretchen Wilson had a lovechild.) Her sultry vocals have graced our ears on Team Blake of NBC's The Voice Season 11, where she was also mentored by Bette Midler. Layne also lent her singing chops to Ari Hauntington, the ghostly pop star in Mattel’s 2016 release 'Welcome To Monster High.’ Recently, Tarra and her team released ‘A Ukrainian Love Story,’ a video tribute depicting her arduous international relationship with her husband. While visiting family in Ukraine, his return to America was halted by Russia’s invasion. Though Ukrainian non-residents are exempt from Martial Law, her husband is bound due to the country’s bureaucratic insufficiencies. Her mission is to spread the word about men in this situation, and bring him home. Tarra’s haunting cover of “Over The Rainbow” provides the backdrop to “A Ukrainian Love Story” both now streaming on Spotify and YouTube.
