2020 kicks off as Redrama is releasing rapid-fire singles working with producers from the US, Finland and Sweden – this is his original raw and artistic expression from a new perspective. All music being released through his own Non-Genre label. Redrama (Lasse Mellberg) was born in Helsinki. At eight years old playing back to back 12-bar blues sessions with his father. He went through the rock/grunge phases as a teen but his guitar playing moved towards the Afro-American traditions of jazz, blues, funk and soul. Learning music theory, history and playing different instruments (guitar, piano, flute, bass, kept him busy for years to come and simultaneously fell in love with hip hop, started writing rhymes and producing his own songs. Influences early years were Nas, ATCQ, The Fugees, Outkast, Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch to name a few. Redrama's first release was an independent EP in 2001. He earned The EBBA-Award and a Finnish Grammy with his Albums "Everyday Sountrack" 2003 and "Street Music" 2005 "The Getaway" was released in June 2009. Getting sober in 2010, landed a new deal with Sony Music in 2012, having his commercially biggest singles and album with “Reflection” 2014. Songs coming out of a fruitful collaboration with premier producer MGI having two consecutive Finnish Radio airplay #1’s with “Clouds feat AJ Mclean” and “Let Go feat Kristinia DeBarge” gathering tens of millions of streams pointing to a fresh direction never resting or repeating the same thing.
