Biography
Widely respected by all artists in the genre, Fuego has always been in front of the curve of Latin music. The Dominican-American began his career creating and popularizing his own fusion of Caribbean mambo and U.S. urban sounds, which in 2011 earned him a number-one hit in nine countries, with “Una Vaina Loca.” Over the following years, Fuego polished his unique style, and grew both as a recording artist, and into a prolific songwriter, collaborating with international acts such as J Balvin, Juanes, Anitta, Dillon Francis, Rick Ross, and Pitbull, among many others. Fuego’s continued evolution and innovative habits led towards the 2016 release of the critically acclaimed album Fireboy Forever II. Regarded by critics and industry tastemakers as a keystone release for what would become the enormous Latin trap genre. “Fireboy Forever II establishes a new sound” – The Fader “Fuego does trap-en-Español like no one else” – Remezcla The ingenuity continues, as Fuego is currently working on his first major-label album with Universal Latin / Transcend.ent, a joint venture run by the multinational UMG group and DVLP, an established hit-maker who has his strong stamp on the global hip-hop and pop sounds, working with the likes of Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Lady Gaga. The partnership has brought new sounds and concepts, which if history is any indication, will bring attractive and head-turning material in 2018 and beyond.
