Biography
Sweden’s Abramis Brama (latin name for the bream fish) has since its formation in 1997 released seven albums with heavy, ecstatic, riff-oriented hard rock – sung in Swedish, which was an odd choice at the time. The band persevered and has – except for one album in English, ”Nothing Changes ” (2003) – stayed true to its ideals and gained a worldwide following, despite the language barrier. The original line-up of bassist/vocalist Dennis Berg, guitarist Peo Anderson, drummer Fredrik Jansson and original lead vocalist Christian Andersen made its album debut with ”Dansa Tokjävelns Vals” (1999), after which new singer Ulf Torkelsson joined for ”När tystnaden lagt sig” (2001). After the monumental ”Rubicon” (2005), the band added second guitarist Robert Johansson (ex-Backdraft) but soon drummer Fredrik Jansson left the band for Witchcraft (now in Angel Witch and Lugnet). His replacement Fredrik Liefvendahl (ex-Grand Magus) made his debut on ”Live!” (2007), followed by the next studio album ”Smakar Söndag” (2009), which was nominated for a P3 Guld award in Sweden. An appearance at the legendary German TV show Rockpalast in 2012 was one of founding member Dennis Berg's last, and he was replaced by bassist Mats Rydström (Backdraft, Avatarium) just in time for the sessions for the ”Enkel Biljett” album (2014). The band has since toured Sweden, including all the major hard rock festivals, before recording ”Tusen år” – which was released on Black Lodge Records in April 2018.
