Biography

Lovespirals began in 1999 as the evolution of Ryan Lum’s band Love Spirals Downwards. Lum met sultry vocalist and DJ Anji Bee during promotions for 'Flux' and a shared love of music drew them together. After releasing a series of jazzy D’n’B singles together, Lovespirals changed directions to explore guitar and lyric based music with their 2002 Projekt Records debut ‘Windblown Kiss.’ The duo then struck out on their own to navigate the new digital music market, forming Chillcuts Digital to release their next 5 albums, 7 EPs, and 8 singles. A 2007 remix contest lead to a collaborative release with trance producer Damien.S that did well in dance music charts, hitting #2 in World Trance, #4 in World House and #10 in World Commercial on the DMC, as well as making the #8 spot on Music Week’s Upfront Club Chart. Over the years Lovespirals have collaborated with a number of other independant acts including Karmacoda, Beth Hirsch, Claire Voyant, Falling You, Chandeen, and Sam Rosenthal. Recently the band has taken a break from the album format to release singles and EPs for more immediate artistic expression. Their work as the YouTube channel Happy Healthy Vegan the past decade has brought video more to the forefront of their creative palette, as well. Though in their mid-50’s, Ryan and Anji retain a youthful exuberance for musical exploration and continually update their smooth dreamy mix of electronica, rock, jazz, and soul as they discover new sounds together.
