Biography
As a producer, South Florida's DJ Scheme was responsible for detailing songs that would become hits for XXXTentacion, Ski Mask the Slump God, and Juice WRLD. In addition to his more behind-the-scenes work, DJ Scheme also branched out as a solo artist with releases like 2020's star-studded Family. DJ Scheme was born Gabriel Guerra in Palm Beach, Florida in 1997. He dabbled in learning a few musical instruments, but when he met fellow Southern Florida artist Wifisfuneral, Guerra shifted more toward music production. DJ Scheme was assisting Wifisfuneral with his tracks as early as 2014, and from there he began working with other rappers in the small but connected Florida scene. Over the next several years, Scheme worked on tracks with Kid Trunks, Ski Mask the Slump God, Craig Xen, and scored some massive hits in the production work he did for close friend XXXTentacion. He released his first solo project in 2019, the three-song Preseason EP, which featured Danny Towers, Lil Yachty, and Ski Mask the Slump God. The next year a proper studio album arrived in the form of guest star-heavy Family. The 17-track album featured big-name collaborators on almost every song, including standout artists like Cordae, Ty Dolla $ign, Skrillex, and many, many others. In 2021 a deluxe version of Family was released and included the song "Buck 50," which prominently featured late rapper/vocalist Juice WRLD. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
