Biography
Busker Busker formed in Korea in the spring of 2011 and within a year would have a collection of chart-topping songs. At a time when K-Pop was dominated by electronic dance tunes, Busker Busker offered up a fresh acoustic sound reminiscent of the past. Jang Beom-June, Brad Moore, and Kim Hyeong-Tae broke onto the national stage with their first single, “Tokyo Girl,” sending them to the top of every music chart in Korea. This success would be duplicated a few more times leading up to the release of their self-titled debut album in the spring of 2012. The incredibly successful album, featuring the hit song “Cherry Blossom Ending,” solidified the band as a household name in Korea. The band’s melodic harmonies, adept musicality, and care-free personalities made Busker Busker one of the most popular bands in Korea. A year after the release of “Cherry Blossom Ending,” Busker Busker achieved the unimaginable when the year-old song raced up the music charts to find itself at #1 once again. “Cherry Blossom Ending” has become the quintessential springtime anthem of Korea as the song reemerges onto the charts each and every spring. The band’s second album (2013) conquered the charts with 8 of its tracks landing in the Top 10 with “Love, at First” taking the top spot. After another national tour, the band took an indefinite hiatus that has lasted to the present. Even with many rumors about a breakup, the band maintains that the world hasn’t seen the last of Busker Busker.
