Biography

Sotomayor is the music project of siblings Paulina and Raul from Mexico City, an elegant blend between afro latin rhythms and electronic beats. After releasing their first album "Salvaje" in 2015, toping more than 25 lists of "best of the year" in several countries, and touring around the world, they come back with "Conquistador", a much more mature in sound record that defines not only the sound of the band, but the sound of the so called "New Latin Wave", a movement of latin american bands that explore their heritage trough contemporary music. 2020 will see the release of “Orígenes” their 3rd studio album trough the NY based label Wonderwheel Recordings. This album was recorded between Mexico and Puerto Rico, and was produced by the 28 times Grammy Winner Eduardo Cabra aka “Visitante”. - Sotomayor es el proyecto musical de los hermanos Paulina y Raul de la ciudad de México. Una elegante mezcla de ritmos afro latinos y música electronica. Tras el lanzamiento de su primer disco en 2015 "Salvaje", la banda apareció en más de 25 listas de "lo mejor del año" en diferentes países, y tuvo la oportunidad de presentarse en distintos festivales alrededor del mundo. Este año Sotomayor regresa con "Conquistador", el esperado segundo álbum de la banda, un disco mucho más maduro que no solo define el sonido de la banda, sino también el llamado "New Latin Wave", un movimiento de bandas latinas que exploran su herencia cultural a través de la música contemporánea.
