BIFE is a queer power duo from Buenos Aires, Argentina Iv and Javiera create songs that represent them both musically and ideologically in a critical remake of popular latin rhythms with electronic textures and revised lyrics. They met in 2013 in a slam poetry event after stalking each other online and have been making music together non stop since then. Iv have had some experience as an actress, vocalist and performer in electronic cumbia, tango and theatre projects and Javiera as a musician, poet and songwriter in acoustic folk bands. Since then, they have recorded and released over 45 songs and 15 videoclips addressing a persistent sarcastic criticism of romantic love and other issues such as polyamory, abortion, catcalling, feminicide, social media, in rhythms like tango, chacarera, zamba, reggae, ballads, pop or cumbia. This versatile quality led them to participate in music festivals and LGBTIQ+ events in Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile sharing line-up with songwriters, cumbia orchestras or punk bands likewise and presenting their particular show of popular music with up-to-date lyrics which usually starts with an intimate guitar and voice acoustic and ends up in a cumbia sound system with live voices and instruments tuned up for the dancefloor.
