Biography
With more than 500,000 albums sold over a 15-year career, Sylvain Cossette was a considerable name in the French Canadian pop scene. Born in Quebec in May 1963, Cossette first appeared on the pop music radar with Quebec-based English-language band Paradox, founded in 1984. 1994 found Cossette leaving both English (for the most part) and a band setting behind, striking out on a French-language-based solo career. Many successful albums followed, and Cossette performed in stage musicals such as Notre Dame de Paris and Dracula in locations in Canada and Europe. 2007 found the multiple Felix Music Award winner releasing his first all-English-language album, 70's. The album debuted at number one in Quebec and number two on the Canadian charts. It also scored well on English charts, easily becoming the fastest-selling album of his career. He saw in the 2007-2008 changeover with a supporting tour, hitting locations in a number of cities in Quebec. ~ Chris True, Rovi
